Introducing our latest Compostable Canvas artist, Alisha Davidson.
Our new Compostable Canvas Hot Cups have been designed by the very talented Alisha Davidson. Here she shares her inspiration behind the designs, and some of the best spots for a coffee around her part of town.

Hey Alisha, we love the designs you have created for our recent Compostable Canvas Cup for winter! What’s inspired your particular style as an artist?
Hi! Thank you so much, I loved creating them!
People’s bodies really inspire my style. People dancing, doing yoga, sports, really anywhere the body takes on a weird shape. I love a strange little pose or an exaggerated form. Bodies are so weirdly wonderful – the inspiration is truly limitless.
What gets you into your creative flows and where do you draw inspiration from?
I like to start by drawing the same thing over and over until it feels right or until I get stuck…I am quick to abandon ideas that aren’t working. It’s so important to play around! I also love finding inspiration in other art and I try to go to at least one gallery a week. That way I’m not just consuming what the algorithm wants me to see. Instead I get to see new art and styles from folks I wouldn’t normally be drawn to.

Why do you think creativity is so important in today’s world, and how do you think it can make a positive impact on the planet?
Creativity is all we have left! With the world truly gone to sh*t I think it’s creativity that will save us. So much of what we’re accustomed to needs to change and in a very radical way. It’s those creative solutions or innovations that will get us out of this dark hole that we’ve dug for ourselves.
When you’re not creating, how do you like to spend your time?
I walk a lot, watch a lot of films and I spend much of my time reading–I’ve been a library nerd for as long as I can remember.
My favourite walk right now is from my place in Camberwell up to Brockwell Park and back through East Dulwich; you hit excellent views and pass many a great coffee option. For films, I’m on a Juzu Itami binge, working my way through their career. Supermarket Woman is a recent highlight. And my library check out of the week is Stay True by Hua Hsu.

What’s your favourite cafe to visit in London?
Ahh I have so many favourites! I’m a bit of a coffee snob, so I’m definitely particular about where I go… for when I’m at the studio, Four Boroughs Coldharbour is my go to; I love NoNo Cafe in Brunswick Park for when I’m out on a casual walk with my pup - she actually drags me in there if we’re nearby; and Lulu’s in Herne Hill on the weekends for a very excellent espresso.
How can people purchase your work or get in touch about any collabs?
